*** Biography:
As much as our daily actions impact our earthly planet in the form of an “ecological footprint,” I am reminded that we also have a spiritual “hand print”. This handprint only begins with our past experiences, influences, and dreams and branches out through perspectives, and formulated beliefs into all areas of our lives.
We all have a natural bent toward service of one kind that we can lose sight of along the way. Fear not, for God is faithful to not only restore us, but equip us with a unique expertise that we can use in very specific areas of need.
At just six years old, when I first heard about the Vietnam War, my spirit was grieved. I immediately packed my suitcase and started off to Washington to see the President. I didn’t understand why it was so difficult, and thought a simple talk would most certainly turn things around. My child’s mind probably oversimplified matters. None-the-less, when I look back, the situation reveals a tendency to serve as a mediator.
Today, God has not only restored me, but that original desire, which has found a place in and amongst my art. My work as an artist, has grown from that of personal interest and expression to one that also carries the message of healing through a process I have begun to see as an artistic “tilling of the soil”.
In our stressful lives it is all too common to shut down and turn inward. Flipping our emotional switch to the off position, might be more comfortable in the short-term, but ultimately a very dangerous approach as it also disrupts our connectivity to God.
It is more important now than ever for our spirits to awaken!
This photographic style which centers around light reflectivity and color can shock our center alive much like an emotional defibrillator. Once we are restored to a state of emotional consciousness, God can begin to reconnect. In and through this art, I feel God’s presence and repeated invitation to commune with Him.
